Saved Cards

How Saved Cards Work

When a patient pays or registers a card:

  • Card is securely stored by OutSmart Pay
  • Card appears in their saved cards list
  • Future bookings can use saved card
  • No need to re-enter card details

Patient Card Management

Viewing Saved Cards

When payment is required:

  1. Patient reaches payment step
  2. Saved cards list appears (if any exist)
  3. Each card shows:
    • Card brand icon (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
    • Last 4 digits
    • Expiry date

Selecting a Saved Card

  1. Cards appear as selectable options
  2. First saved card is auto-selected
  3. Patient can choose different card
  4. Click “Add New Card” for new entry

Adding New Cards

Even with saved cards, patients can add new ones:

  1. Click “Add New Card” button
  2. The credit card form appears
  3. Enter new card details
  4. Process payment or registration
  5. New card saved for future use

Deleting Cards

Patients can remove saved cards:

How to Delete

  1. Find card in saved cards list

  2. Click the trash icon

  3. Confirm deletion

  4. Card removed immediately

    At least one card must remain on file when cards are required. The delete button is hidden when only one card exists.


Duplicate Card Prevention

The system prevents adding the same card twice:

How It Works

When adding a new card:

  1. System checks existing cards
  2. Matches by last 4 digits + expiry
  3. If duplicate found, uses existing
  4. Avoids cluttering the card list

Matching Criteria

Cards are considered duplicates if:

  • Same last 4 digits
  • Same expiry month/year

Security Notice

The saved cards interface displays:

“Card data is encrypted. We can only verify the last 4 digits.”

This reminds patients that:

  • Card data is secure
  • Full numbers aren’t stored in OutSmart
  • Card numbers are held by OutSmart Pay’s PCI-compliant infrastructure

Authorization Checkbox

When using saved cards, patients confirm:

For Payments:

“I authorize this charge. My card will be securely encrypted and saved to my account.”

For Card Registration:

“I authorize saving my card on file. Your card details will be securely encrypted and saved to your account.”


Loading States

While Loading Cards

  • Spinner displayed
  • “Loading saved cards…” message
  • Cards appear when ready

While Deleting

  • Spinner on delete button
  • Card removed when complete

Common Questions

Why can’t I delete my only card?

Services requiring cards need at least one on file. Add a new card first, then delete the old one.

How many cards can I save?

No set limit - save as many cards as needed.

Can I edit a saved card?

No - cards can only be added or deleted. To change details, add a new card and delete the old one.

What happens when my card expires?

Expired cards remain in the list but may fail when used. Add a new card with current expiry.


Troubleshooting

Saved Cards Not Loading

  • Check internet connection
  • Try refreshing the page
  • May be a temporary service issue

Can’t Select a Card

  • Ensure you’re clicking the card
  • Radio button should activate
  • Try refreshing

Card Failing at Payment

  • Card may be expired
  • Insufficient funds
  • Card issuer declined
  • Try a different card
