Clearing Your Browser's Saved Files

Your web browser saves copies of the files OutSmart’s pages are built from, so that pages open faster the next time you visit. This store of saved files is called the browser’s cache. After OutSmart is updated, your browser can occasionally keep using an older saved copy, and a page may then look wrong, show a section out of place, or have a button that does nothing when you click it.

Clearing the saved files makes the browser fetch the current version of every page. It does not sign you out of other websites if you follow the steps below, and it does not change anything in your OutSmart account: your charts, appointments and settings are stored by OutSmart, not in your browser.

First, try reloading the page

A full reload is quicker and often enough on its own. It reloads the page you are on and ignores the saved copy.

  • Windows (Chrome, Edge or Firefox): press Ctrl + F5, or Ctrl + Shift + R.
  • Mac (Chrome, Edge or Firefox): press Cmd + Shift + R.
  • Mac (Safari): press Cmd + Option + R.

If the page still does not look right, clear the saved files as described below.

Google Chrome

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on Windows, or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac. The Delete browsing data window opens.
  2. Next to Time range, choose All time.
  3. Tick Cached images and files. Untick Cookies and other site data and Browsing history, so that you stay signed in to other websites and keep your history.
  4. Click Delete data.
  5. Close the browser, open it again, and sign in to OutSmart.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on Windows, or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac. The Clear browsing data window opens.
  2. Next to Time range, choose All time.
  3. Tick Cached images and files. Untick the other items, including Cookies and other site data.
  4. Click Clear now.
  5. Close the browser, open it again, and sign in to OutSmart.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on Windows, or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac. The Clear browsing data and cookies window opens.
  2. Next to When, choose Everything.
  3. Tick Temporary cached files and pages. Untick the other items, including Cookies and site data.
  4. Click Clear.
  5. Close the browser, open it again, and sign in to OutSmart.

Safari (Mac)

  1. In the menu bar, open Safari, then Settings, then the Advanced tab, and tick Show features for web developers. You only need to do this once.
  2. In the menu bar, open Develop and choose Empty Caches.
  3. Close Safari, open it again, and sign in to OutSmart.

If the page still does not look right

Open Ask OutSmart at the bottom center of any page and describe what you see. If you need help from our team, click Can’t find your answer? Get support, and choose Urgent if you cannot work and need a phone call. Using The AI Help Widget explains each option.
