Creating and Editing Repeating Events

Repeating events are events that automatically recur on your calendar. This feature is restricted to non-patient events, such as lunch breaks, or background events, like hours of operation. This prevents potential scheduling conflicts that could arise when blindly creating recurring patient appointments.

Creating a Repeating Event

To create a new repeating event, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the calendar at the desired start time to open the New Event panel.
  2. Select a non-patient event or a background event from available “Type of Event” options.
  3. Under the date and time, click the dropdown that says “Does not repeat.”
  4. From the list, choose the type of recurrence you want to set:
    • Daily
    • Every weekday
    • Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    • Every Tuesday, Thursday
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
    • Yearly
  5. Based on your selection, a panel will appear with further options. Configure the specific details of the recurrence, such as the frequency (e.g., “every 2 weeks”) and the end date or number of occurrences.

Editing a Repeating Event

You can edit a repeating event by double-clicking on it in the calendar. This will open the Event Editor panel.

Once you have made your changes and click “Save,” a dialog box will appear with options for how to apply your edits:

  • This instance: This will only apply the changes to the specific event you clicked on, leaving all other events in the series unchanged.
  • This and all subsequent instances: This will apply the changes to the current event and every future event in the repeating series.
  • The entire series: This will apply the changes to all events in the repeating series, including past and future instances.

Important: We highly recommend editing the entire series whenever possible. Creating multiple exceptions to a repeating event can lead to conflicting rules and make your calendar difficult to manage. For significant changes to your recurring schedule, it’s often best to delete the existing series and create a new one with the desired settings.
