Enabling Services
How Service Enabling Works
Online Booking uses an inclusion-based system - only services you explicitly add will appear on your booking page. This gives you complete control over what patients can book online.
Default Behavior
When you first set up your booking page:
-
No services are shown by default
-
You must explicitly add each service you want to offer online
This approach ensures you consciously choose which services are available for online booking, rather than accidentally exposing services that should be booked by phone or in person.
Adding Services to Online Booking
Step-by-Step
- Log in to OutSmart with administrator permissions
- Visit your booking page in edit mode
- Navigate to the sidebar (left panel on desktop)
- Find the “Our Services” or “My Services” tab
- Look for the “Add to Online Booking” dropdown at the top
- Select a service from the dropdown
- The service appears in the list immediately
What Appears in the Dropdown
The dropdown shows:
- All services that are NOT currently enabled
- Services owned by the office (for Office Priority)
- Services owned by the practitioner (for Practitioner Priority)
- Services linked to practitioners at your office
When all available services are enabled, the dropdown shows “All services added.”
Removing Services from Online Booking
To remove a service from your booking page:
-
Find the service in the sidebar list
-
Click the X button on the service card
-
Confirm the removal in the popup
-
The service is immediately hidden from patients
Removing a service doesn't delete it from OutSmart - it only hides it from the booking page. You can re-add it anytime.
Understanding Service Availability
Office Priority Mode
On an office booking page:
- You can enable services from all practitioners at the office
- Services appear grouped by who offers them
- Multiple practitioners offering the same service are combined
Practitioner Priority Mode
On a practitioner’s personal page:
- Only that practitioner’s services can be enabled
- Services from different offices are combined
- You control what appears on your personal page
Service Visibility Rules
For a service to appear on the booking page, it must:
- Be enabled - Added to the inclusion list
- Have availability - At least one practitioner has open slots
- Match filters - Patient type and visit type match the patient’s selections
Hidden Automatically
Services are automatically hidden when:
- No practitioners offering the service are enabled
- No availability exists for the service
- Service doesn’t match the current filters
Managing Services for Multiple Practitioners
Adding a Service Offered by Multiple Practitioners
When the same service is offered by multiple practitioners:
- Add the service once
- All enabled practitioners offering it will appear
Practitioner-Specific Services
Some services may be offered by only one practitioner:
- These appear with just that practitioner’s name
- Other practitioners won’t be shown for this service
Loading States
When adding or removing services, you’ll see:
- Adding spinner - Shows “Adding…” while saving
- Dropdown disabled - Prevents double-adds during save
- Instant update - Service appears/disappears immediately after save
Best Practices
Selecting Services for Online Booking
Good candidates:
- Routine appointments (check-ups, follow-ups)
- Standard duration services
- Services with straightforward requirements
- Popular, high-demand services
Consider keeping offline:
- Complex evaluations requiring pre-consultation
- Emergency or urgent care services
- Services requiring special preparation or referral
- Highly customized treatments
Regular Review
Periodically review your enabled services:
- Remove services no longer offered
- Add new services as they become available
- Adjust based on patient booking patterns
Troubleshooting

- Verify it’s assigned to an active practitioner
