Create Product Labels Quickly

The Product Label Dashboard Card is designed for generating printable labels to apply to products at the time of dispensing. While it’s generally recommended to create labels automatically from a patient’s SOAP chart, this card allows you to create labels on the fly without a corresponding chart. This is especially useful when you need to quickly print a label for a recommendation from a previous paper chart or an outside source.

To add the card to your dashboard, click the Dashboard Card Menu and select Product Label.

Once the card is added, you must fill in the required fields: Practitioner, Patient, Dispensary, and Product. You can also include optional details like Dosage Instructions to have them appear on the label.

When you’re finished, click Print Label to generate a printable label formatted for 2 1/8″ x 2 3/4″ thermal printers like Dymo or Brother.

Note

For products you regularly recommend, generating the label from the patient’s SOAP chart is the better path — the chart already has the practitioner, patient, dispensary, product, and dosage filled in, so there’s nothing to retype. The Product Label card is the fallback for one-off labels from a paper chart or a recommendation that wasn’t made through OutSmart’s charting system.
