Services Overview
What Are Services?
A service represents a type of appointment that patients can book, such as:
- Initial Assessment (60 minutes)
- Follow-up Visit (30 minutes)
- Annual Physical (45 minutes)
- Consultation (30 minutes)
- Treatment Session (60 minutes)
Each service has properties like:
- Title - Name displayed to patients
- Duration - How long the appointment lasts
- Description - Details about what to expect
- Price - Cost (optional display)
- Visit Type - In-person, virtual, or both
- Patient Type - New patients, returning, or both
How Services Work in Online Booking
Service Source
Services are created in your main OutSmart application and automatically appear on your booking page. You don’t create new services within Online Booking - you configure which existing services to display and how.
What You Can Configure
On your booking page, you can:
- Enable/disable which services appear
- Organize services into categories
- Reorder services within categories
- Edit titles, descriptions, and durations
- Set visit type and patient type properties
- Show/hide prices
Service Display
Office Priority Mode
When patients visit an office booking page, they see:
- All services offered at that office
- Services grouped by category (if configured)
- Practitioner names under each service card
- Services from multiple practitioners combined if they offer the same service
Practitioner Priority Mode
When patients visit a practitioner’s booking page, they see:
- Only that practitioner’s services
- Services grouped by category (if configured)
- Office/location names under each service card
- Services from multiple offices combined if offered at several locations
Service Card Information
Each service card displays:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Service name (capitalized) |
| Duration | Time length with clock icon |
| Practitioners/Offices | Who offers it / Where offered |
| Description | Details (expandable if long) |
| Tags | Restrictions like “New Patients Only” |
| Price | Cost (if price display is enabled) |
Service Filtering
Patients can filter services in two ways:
By Category
If you’ve set up categories, a category slider appears above the services. Patients click category buttons to filter:
- “All” shows all services
- Category buttons show services in that category
By Patient/Visit Type
The booking panel includes filter options:
- Patient Type: New Patient / Returning Patient
- Visit Type: In-Person / Virtual / Either
These filters help patients find services that match their needs.
Key Concepts
Enabled vs. Disabled Services
- Enabled services appear on your booking page
- Disabled services are hidden from patients
- You control this through the inclusion list feature
Service Ownership
Services can be owned by:
- Office - Available to all practitioners at the office
- Practitioner - Specific to one practitioner
Only the owner can edit a service’s core properties.
Service Categories
Services can be organized into categories:

- Office pages have office-level categories
- Practitioner pages have practitioner-level categories
